CrossArm

As you saw in the last post, we took a quick look at what is new at Safari Brand. And now I want to show you details. We call this CrossArm.



The idea of hand-painting a cross has been on deck for quite some time in my mind, but it has only recently come into play. Years ago, while traveling to Armenia, i had purchased these hand-carved, cross necklaces. They have a very unique & distinct look, which is rare to find in crosses. Yes, we've all seen the typical straight-edged crosses, but not many stand out like these.


The back of the cross remains with it's natural wood finish.



Each cross has been hand-carved in Armenia & hand-painted by Safari Brand.

I'm bored, give me something new...

As we count down the last few hours of this long weekend of stuffing & sales, we can also start counting the days left in 2010. A year balanced with an uneven amount of bright & dark days(you know who won), 2010 will definitely go down in my book of "What the Hell is Going On?". Arite, don't wanna get too sensitive now, let's get back to what we are here for, something new!

In the next coming weeks, there will be a fresh new batch of designs hitting each of our collections. In no particular order, new t-shirts, hoodies, & goodies will be added to the Impressionist, Expressionist, Nationalist, Apparel(SBA) & Accessories collections.

Here is a quick look at what we all have to look forward to...

Nationalist Collection:
Starting off, the Expressive Nationalists will have a few new additions, like these 3 amigos. JAMAICA, HOLLAND & ECUADOR.



One particular flag that was left out of the Impressive Nationalists should apologize for it's late-coming. Brazil in it's most detailed design yet, will soon make it's way home into our online shop.



Another brand new addition to the Impressive Nationalists will be the national flag of Armenia. The red has stood for the blood shed by Armenian soldiers in war, blue for the Armenian sky, and orange represents the fertile lands of Armenia and the workers who work them.



This design has been requested many times, but we never put it into play because we thought it didn't make sense with the times. And now the time has come, the world has come to it's knees. There is so much confusion, instead of coming together, we seem to be drifting away & making things more difficult.
Sinternational will be added to our Multi-Flags section of the Nationalist Collection.



Expressionist Collection:
As you know, the Expressionist shirts are about expressing yourself in a few words. We have re-designed one of our more popular shirts, "Yo Soy El Mejor".



These designs have been locked up in the vault for quite some time. A quick look at "I Skate SF", "I Skate NY" & "I Skate LA" .


There will be more shirts added to the Expressionist Collection, they are boiling on the back burner on a low heat.

Impressionist Collection:
I love abstract art. It's simple complication with no real meaning but a connection of the brain, heart, eyes & fingers.

This is Donegg...





A design we first wanted to introduce through our Ladies line, has been put on hold, but will make it's first appearance through our Men's collection. This is El X.





Mural is the first collaboration between our Impressionist & Expressionist collections. They will be listed on our Impressionist page.



SBA (Apparel):
The SBA line has been quiet for quite some time now. And that is mainly because Safari Brand's specialty is hand-painted shirts. As you know, our Apparel collection stayed away from the hand-painted designs, & focused on more of a clean look with t-shirts & jackets stitched with a patch or two. We have decided too change it up a bit & bring some paint into the collection.

I want to thank the music industry people for passing the torch down to creative musicians every once in a while. Cee-Lo has been raising the bar in music-making forever now. Safarinternational

The world doesn't stop for you, & neither should you stop for the world. While you are in your bed sleeping, there is another part of the world waking up to start another day. And in Belgium, there's a group of young adults who seem to never stop. I'm talking about Safari Brands' extended international family, Invasion Latina.

They are made up of 6 ambitious gentlemen, who have put together tours all over Europe for artists including,  Bob Sinclair, Pitbull, Alexis y Fido, Tego Calderon, Voltio, Big Mato, & recently with Daddy Yankee.



Here's a look at what the guys at Invasion Latina wear while traveling the EU...

Here they are with the "Big Boss" himself, Daddy Yankee.

And if you thought they were done for the year, the guys will be hosting Don Omar & Lucenzo on the 20th of December in Brussels, to close the year out. And speaking of Lucenzo, he's been busy touring the world along with our good buddy Dj Coms.

Next Thursday, our friend Dj Pablo will be celebrating his birthday with you & some of his close rockstar friends. In the house will be: The guy who's song made you go,"what is this guy even saying??", Sensato del Patio that is. And then we have Sito Rocks ripping the stage with his hits "Honey" & "Un Beijo". And finally, Safari Brand will do some spectacular stage dives throughout the night.

Rihanna "Only Girl" video

If you've been YouTube-ing this video for the last month & been hit with nothing but videos removed by the Universal Music Group for unauthorized releases, the official release has come. Rihanna returns with a dance tune that has major International flavor written all over it. And once again, she proves that the video doesn't kill the radio star.

When i first tuned in to see the video, (now don't call me sissy) i was in love with the whole thing. I'm not gonna lie, the theme & the colors put me in a trance. I said to my self, Rihanna came back, & she came hard, until i scrolled down & read the first comment on her video: "This video is a total knock-off of Tim Walker's photography!" So i Googled Tim Walker & was sure to find out that it is true, they did copy a lot of his ideas, in some occasions, picture for picture.

Now let's compare the pictures to the video.

At 1:56 we get Rihanna mesmerized by an over-sized pink rose...

At 2:58, we get the over-sized balloons floating around Rihanna who's sitting on a wooden ladder...

At 3:21, you see lit up dresses hanging from a tree...

Now, if you're Rihanna & the video producer, these can all be a coincidence. But if you're the artist who has been a victim of theft, you want a really preci$e explanation for all this. In this case, Tim Walker was the victim & there is probably nothing he can do about it.

The guy is in jail, but you cannot go a Hip-Hop day without mentioning Lil' Wayne. He has become something nobody thought he would be. A living legend. Thanks to a record label that believed in this youngster, Weezy has come to be the talk of the planet Earth. But according to him, he is "not a human being". His latest video will explain this to you & our latest design will back it up.

Mini Cities

The popular way to photograph things nowadays, is to leave a camera in one location for 375 hours while it automatically takes pictures of one view. Then you go pick it up & put all the pictures together to make a short movie. Now get up & get started.

Recently, a few different creative photographers have found this new approach to the craft to be more interesting than regular photos. And you will know why when you watch these 2 short films on the great cities of  San Francisco & New York.
